BIC BLOG 7/18/20

Another sort of ‘ground hog day’ week here. Maybe exciting redundancy reads better ? :)

We are real close to finishing our anticipated ‘STRANGER’ video. In fact, I am not-so-patiently awaiting, with coffee in hand, the final edit to view and God-willing approve! Much thanks to all involved to make this undertaking possible, including my youngest daughter Sophia as the ‘living statue’ and of course Ms. Kat Leon, whose lyrics and riveting performance highlight our cinematic endeavor. Premiere details soon!!!

We are still working on concepts and logistics for a possible 4th video from the storm before the calm, or if time and situation does not permit, we will certainly produce several from our next planned release; ‘out of chaos comes…’ It is such an amazing experience to hear how others ‘re-imagine’ these songs. I got to hear another complete track this week, as well as several rough mixes … all which are inspiring to hear. Actually sharing MGT’s version of ‘A Kind Cruelty’ with our neighbors right now!! We even got to work a bit on the front cover art, which I am really excited about and I think fits the album’s title perfectly. Maybe I am a tad biased as I think all of our covers do just that! If all goes to plan, besides multiple versions of all of the songs from ‘TSBTC’, we will even have a new version of a song from ‘finding beauty in chaos’ that did not appear on beauty re-envisioned’!

If anyone was wondering why I had asked if our BIC Family still viewed DVDs, we are still considering making ‘Out Of Chaos Comes …’ available as a ‘deluxe digipak’ including a DVD with all of our videos, the documentary and hopefully, some behind the scenes nonsense! Not a 100% final, but I am hoping 33.3 Music Collective goes along with my idea.

This is a good segway here. Again, I am not a fan of streaming, whether Spotify, Deezer, Apple Music or whatever else. It is not really about the money paid to artists .. which I do think is insulting and appalling. To me it is about my love of music in the physical forms. The entire ‘experience’. The cover, the running order, the liner notes, the lyrics, the credits and more. In this one man’s opinion .. streaming shares a big part in the ‘devaluing’ of the art of making music. I’ll leap off that soapbox now. I get the ‘convenience’ aspect of it (barely) as my wife’s Honda CRV does not have a CD player in it. Not to be a total ‘boomer’, as with our other BIC releases, I have begrudgingly agreed to allow our new release to be ‘streamed’ sixty (60) days after the release. It will also be available on BANDCAMP and CD BABY as there are still some who prefer to purchase from those outlets. The point behind this segway, and I try to do this without coming off as groveling ‘please buy our record’ … is that I, and all of the other artists in our BIC Family, love the aspect that we do make these releases available on vinyl and compact disc. I truly would like to continue to make records, not just digital 0s and 1s. So I am asking that if you do indeed stream the record, and hopefully enjoy it … consider owning it in a physical format from 33.3’s BIC STORE . I don't just apply this logic to BIC, I think everyone should do the same with any artist that they enjoy . Putting my money where my mouth is, I am going to do just that with Ashton Nyte’s amazing new record, ‘Waiting For A Voice’ and the Psychedelic Furs’s ‘Made Of Rain’, which was mixed by fellow, father-of-daughters, Tim Palmer.
