MONDAY Q&A 3/16/20

Q: I read your post about offering free downloads of the Beauty In Chaos albums. As a fellow independent artist I have admired your stance on the ‘value’ of music and being basically anti Spotify and other streaming services. Why the change of heart?

A: My view and general overall concern at the lack of value placed on the art-of-making-music and all that comes with that has not changed. What has changed to me is what is happening in our world with the Covid-19 virus. I am not sure where you live or what the situation is in your community, but I do see and hear from many of our friends around the globe that are going thru a rough time; many under in-home lock-down. As I feel I can speak for all of the amazing artists involved in BIC, I feel music is something that brings us all together and has a positive impact … both things we feel are immensely important right now. If getting to hear these records, which we are all very proud of makes someone’s day just a bit better.. well AMEN! I guess this is exactly what ‘finding beauty in chaos’ actually means. We are certainly in the midst of ‘chaos’ … so hopefully this brings a bit of ‘beauty’ to some that may not have had the records. Some things should and do transcend business. I am blessed that Tim Perry (owner of 33.3 Music Collective) was immediately on board with this idea. Not that this is at all my motivation, and I would like to think those who personally know me can confirm this; but when we get past this virus thing … and we will, that our BIC Family may grow and new people will be interested in our May 22nd release of ‘the storm before the calm’. Wow … typing the title sure has ‘ art-imitating-life’ all over it. We are certainly in the ‘storm’, but praying the ‘calm’ will soon be upon us. I hope our small gesture may spur other artists to also join in giving the gift of music while it is needed the most.
