BIC BLOG 3/14/20
Well this week was certainly not last week’s ‘slow’ week. The world as seemingly turned more than a tad upside down. Cancelled tours and sporting events are now the norm. 'Social Distancing’ is a new phrase that I never thought I would see/hear so much. As serious as this all is, it is starting to reach a point of overload.
In our BIC world, both Tish and I’s daughters are home from their respective colleges, with less than a day notice to ‘evacuate their dorms’. As parents, we are always happy to have them home, but now it comes with them attempting to finish their finals ‘on-line’ and the unknown of what/where they will be for the next semesters. On top of what may look at as the ‘chaos’ this week … I spent a day in the hospital for a non-serious but necessary surgery. All is well there and I was back in my office and in the studio later in the week.
Michael Rozon and I have the next two weeks to finishing mixing the album. We worked Thursday night on ‘Temple Of Desire’… which will probably prove to be the most different, and certainly most musically-adventurous track on the album! In typical BIC mix time fashion, we have the usual ‘what if we add ….’ , so I picked up a slide and added some slight guitar texture to the bridge section which made me smile each time we played it back! We are back in all day tomorrow and should have added this song to the ‘finished’ column. We will be delivering ‘the storm before the calm’ to mastering by month’s end. No matter, we will release this album as planned on May 22, 2020 (unbeknownst is also World Goth Day). It is always our plan to have both the vinyl and CDs in hand and shipping on (or before) that date. I sincerely hope that all our BIC family who are awaiting this release understand some things may end up out of our hands. As of now, we are told that there ‘should be no manufacturing delays’ in the album and compact disc production… but I think we all see just how fluid and volatile things are right now. No matter, the digital version (which will be included with both LP/CD purchases) won’t be affected. Our BIC website will be updated shortly, with pre-order info, lyrics, etc. We are also heavy into the planning stages of not one, but at least two new videos! Also, as I self-leaked already … another ‘remix’ album and a new track are planned before the end of the year. Yes.. we do keep our PR peeps; the lovely Shauna and her Shameless Promotion co. busy!
I know many of our BIC family are also big fans of The Mission; mainly due to Wayne’s amazing contributions to all of our albums. It is certainly unfortunate, alas necessary that their current European Party tour has been postponed. I have been asked by many that had planned to purchase the BIC CDs signed by Wayne and I, if they would be available now. I have been told that the remaining copies, along with all of the Mission’s tour merch will be available in the next few days at THE MISSION STORE. I ask that everyone that can, please support the band by purchasing something from their store. We will certainly post links when available.
This is certainly something I ask the we all do to support not only artists and bands that depend on touring and selling their merch to survive … but also the small businesses and the workers at those establishments in your community.
I know we all are going to face some financial hardships from this virus thing … but if you are able….. help a stranger.
Stay safe, wash your hands and be kind…
