BIC BLOG 2/1/20
… well Tish and I ushered in February with a bang… maybe a tad too much as I am indeed a bit ‘fuzzy’ this morning. I blame the vodka! We went to ‘Dark Friday’ as our friend Mark Gemini Thwaite was doing a deejay set. If memory serves me, I am sure he spun his ‘MGT Remix’ of “20th Century Boy”. We talked music, Mission and more with our mutual friends Curse Mackey and Rona Rougeheart. I am fairly certain another MGT remix was also discussed. Good times, yet paying dearly today :)
Back to BIC, we did shoot a new video for our next single ‘“A Kind Cruelty” last Sunday. Long day in a very cool undisclosed location … but I think we will end up with another interesting and different video, even with a few tongue-in-cheek moments! We even have the running ‘mattress incident’ among the cast and crew! God willing, this one will premiere on February 21st. Some of you may remember this was our intended release date of ‘the storm before the calm’, which was derailed by some devilish ghosts-in-the-machine. We hope this new single will wet the appetite of our BIC family waiting for the album release.
Even though my BIC cohort Michael Rozon is knee-deep in the new MINISTRY record, we did have Thursday in SAINTinLA Studio to fine-tune the mixes. I am very confident that 4 of the tracks are 99% finished. Really love what I am hearing … as Mr. Rozon is a sonic wizard. I am going to go out on a limb (same limb from before) to say a mid-May release is within reach. We will confirm a date later this month.
So much death over the past week…. starting with Kobe. Hug your wife, husband, kids, pets and friends, my friends. Don’t take a day or breath for granted. It is indeed a gift. As I’m typing this, I just see that Gang Of Four’s guitarist Andy Gill just passed at the young age of 64. I have certainly used and abused their jagged guitar riff in ‘Damaged Goods’ throughout my career. RIP
