MONDAY Q&A 1/27/20

Q:  I read that you did not use any synths on your 'finding beauty in chaos' record.  Being a guitarist and keyboardist myself, I was amazed at the sounds on this record.  Are you planning to continue this way on your next record?

A:  First, thank you for the kind words.  I’m not sure if everyone caught that fact! The idea of not using synths did not come from a disdain for, but it was something I wanted to prove to myself that I could do.  I was certainly blessed to have Michael Rozon behind the board, as he is a sonic alchemist and really helped me achieve these textures.  I also have some great friends that make fantastic effect pedals that are all over 'FBIC'!  I loved being able to put this 'disclaimer' on the record that may missed 'NO ANIMALS HARMED OR SYNTHS USED IN THE MAKING OF THIS ALBUM'   This was a 'limitation' I set, and loosened the strings on the new songs.  There are some synths on the thesesongs for sure, but not to the extent I thought we might.  I still enjoy conjuring textures with guitars and pedals as opposed to pressing a key on a synth.  So if there was any question, that are lots of swirling guitars ... some beautiful and some not so on this record.  I think our debut single, 'the delicate balance of all things' sets the tone of this record well.
