BIC BLOG 12/14/19
While I am off to ChiTown this week to see our oldest daughter perform and move her home for the Holidays, Mr. Rozon has been working diligently in the studio on the songs … doing his ‘magic’! It will certainly be a race to the finish line when I return to get everything ready to be mastered. We still have one track yet to be sung, and I also need to jump in on something I want added to the CD/Digital version. The briefness of this blog no way correlates to the amount of detail work Michael Rozon has been doing this week and continuing this week. Blessed to have him as a partner in this chaos !!!
Our new single ‘The Delicate Balance Of All Things’ seems to be being received well, even on all of the Mission sites. I think we are beyond the initial cluster-fuck of the YouTube squashed volume upload, even though there are new 2-versions of the video posted. If you have not seen/heard the correct version of the song, please check it out HERE. Also, if you have not seen Wayne’s witty words on the song … here ‘ya go!
“ I'm home in Brazil now after a glorious and much needed two week holiday in Costa Rica with my wife and close friends. Catching up......First up is this:
Having already contributed to 4 different Beauty In Chaos tracks previously - The Long Goodbye, Man Of Faith, The Long Goodbye (Au Revoir), & Bolan’s 20th Century Boy with his son Rolan - when Michael asked if I’d be up for contributing yet more vocals & lyrics to yet another BIC track I must confess that my first reaction was to make my excuses and decline the invitation. However, in an attempt to not appear churlish I did suggest that Michael send me the instrumental tracks anyway and said I’d give them a listen and see if they spark anything. I was busy preparing for my mammoth solo European Salad Daze tour and didn’t think I’d have time and, to be frank, I did feel ‘collaborated’ out…..if I was to work on new music, I figured, it should be new material of my own rather than someone else’s. All I seemed to have done new for the last few years were 'collabs'.....
The tracks arrived. First one up - whilst I was thought it was okay it didn’t really grab me. Same for the next one. And then the third. I immediately started humming along, I liked this one. Despite the piece of music being very angular and broken into essentially 3 sections - all in different keys - the challenge for me was finding a vocal melody that sounds like it stays in the same key. I relished the challenge.
I had the title of ‘the delicate balance of all things’ previously and was considering even possibly using it as an album title at some point (may still do) but it seemed to fit perfectly for this new tune of Michael’s. I scrabbled some lyrics together and recorded a vocal and sent it to Michael. He wasn’t, at first, sure about it because of the low register that I sang the song in - I think he prefers it when I’m straining at the top of my range - but this music was dark and heavy and I just loved the juxtaposition of a more laid back vocal against that noisy background. I stood my ground and insisted that it would work. Eventually Michael, and his creative partner Michael Rozon, deferred to my persuasive argument. The result justifies my obstinacy, imho.
Whilst I was in LA at the beginning of August ostensibly to shoot two BIC videos - for 20th Century Boy & The Long Goodbye (Au Revoir) - we also took the opportunity of filming me in the studio singing along to ‘the delicate balance of all things’ and this here is the result. Give it a butcher's.....
I have to say that of the 5 tracks I’ve been involved in with BIC this new one is my favourite, being closer to my musically spiritual home. And Michael plays some great guitar on this without a single chug being played....take note all ye chuggers out there...” Wayne Hussey X
Finally, our third video, the industrial fueled rendition of ‘20th Century Boy’ featuring MINISTRY main-main Al Jourgensen has turned the slander page and is now a year old. Pretty f’in crazy!
