BIC BLOG 6/1/24

there is certainly a mixed bag of emotions running through my head as something that Michael Rozon and I started over 12 months ago is finally coming to fruition. Excitement, trepidation, relief, exhaustion, elation… i could go on. There was a point of disillusionment with (and I use this term extremely loosely) the ‘music business’ after releasing our last video single, “Kiss Me (Goodbye)” last year. I questioned if making a full-length record was even a ‘thing’ anymore. Do listeners even have the band-width or desire to digest 45+ minutes of music anymore? Should BIC just buy into today’s way? 3 minute songs, streaming only … rinse, forget and repeat?

Call me stubborn, old-school or just a relic of days gone by … but we opted to buck the trend and do a full-length real album. What started with a strange guitar tuning, a few new effect pedals… and then a painting that cemented the ‘concept’ … “Dancing With Angels” has been sent off to press. Hopefully the vinyl copies, along with the deluxe Edition CDs (more on that later) will be in hand by the official release date of July 24th!

Yes, that is a tad over 6 weeks away, but never fear … as promised the debut video/single “Diving For Pearls” will premiere this coming Tuesday … June 4th, 2024! In a an effort to keep an element of mystery in a world that hates mystery … you’ll just have to wait to see and hear who is behind the microphone on this new song! Maybe I am jaded and or presumptuous, but I don’t think anyone will be disappointed. I have not only lived for several weeks with the mixing of this song, but also the tediousness of the video editing … and this beautiful song is still stuck in my head. Make sure to check out the premiere here (if you are on the BIC mailing list) and/or on all of our socials, as there is a Limited Edition CD-Single that will be made available for those beautiful BIC souls that still appreciate having and holding new music on Tuesday!!!

To kick off the month of June, Mr. Rozon and I head back into SAINTinLA today to add some final sonic elements to the HALOs; which are the musical interludes that will ‘connect’ the songs on the Deluxe CD version of ‘Dancing With Angels’.

Since BIC never rests, we will also be shooting not one, but two new videos this month, with the plan of releasing one of these with, or just before, the official album launch. Details soon.

Finally there are some rumors of a mini-BIC reunion of sorts later this month … stay tuned.
