MONDAY MC Q&A 7/19/21
Q: I know you have always been a proponent of vinyl music, and I have all of the BIC release LPs. My question is will the next BIC also be printed on vinyl ?
A: First, thank you for purchasing our vinyl! When our BIC family purchase our releases on vinyl and CD, this is what makes it possible for us to continue to release in physical formats. You are correct that I am a big fan of listening to music on vinyl. It is honestly more than just being ‘from that generation’ … it is truly a sonic thing to my ears. I think vinyl just sounds better …. fuller, wider stereo field and dynamics. As for your question,, my short answer is ‘I hope so’. I am still up in the air if the next release will be an EP or a full album. One issue we run into with vinyl is the 44 minute limit. BIC songs, usually by design are on the long side… thus usually requiring edited versions to fit six songs on the vinyl. This leaves the decision of what songs ‘flow’ best, and putting the remaining tracks on the CD and digital versions. Not the end of the world, but I never want any artist to feel slighted if their track is not included on the vinyl. In a perfect world, I would just do all of our releases a double-vinyl as we did with our debut, ‘finding beauty in chaos’. Sadly, it seems the listeners who purchase physical music seem to be further dwindling; while production and shipping costs rise. I do hope that our label, 33.3 Music Collective, continues to stay on-board with releasing Beauty In Chaos in physical formats. Currently my plans are to release our next two tracks as ‘digital singles’ along with an accompanying video. If all goes to plan, this will be in August and October…. with a physical release before the end of the year.
