BIC BLOG 5/9/20
sadly its another week of adding names to ‘The Storm Before The Calm’ dedication to artists that have left us too soon. This week we lost The Stranglers’ Dave Greenfield, Kraftwerks' Florian Schneider, and today … the amazing Little Richard. Live each day to its fullest as we are not guaranteed tomorrow.
We are now at thirteen days and counting down to the release of our next album. 33.3 Music Collective assures me we are on track to have the CDs in hand (and thus in the post) on or before it’s World Goth Day release (lesser known as May 22nd). The vinyl is also in process and will follow shortly after. Tim Perry (owner of 33.3) has kindly offered one of the illustrious and rare test-pressings for us to give away. After a few more cups of goth-black coffee, I hope to figure out a plan. Maybe I can get all of the artists to sign this one also?
Here is the LINK to pre-order your very own ‘TSBTC’, which will be available in Vinyl (including the LTD Edition numbered Black & Blue version), Compact Disc and the Digital Download. Remember, when you purchase Vinyl or CD, you will also get sent the Digital Version on 5/22 at no extra charge. There is also the Super 3-CD pack HERE! Reliable rumors also tell me there may just be some new BIC Merch available later today! Visit our BIC STORE to be the first in your neighborhood with it :)
Early this week I spent a couple of hours talking with Jammerzine’s Ryan Martin about our new record. It’s long, but there are some funny moments. Thankfully he broke it up into more easily digestible sections, and you can listen to it HERE.
As odd as it might seem to some that I have mentioned our NEXT record even befor this one is released … it is just the way BIC works. Yes, there will be sort of a re-envisoned style release to come later this year based around songs from ‘the storm before the calm’. With the Covid quarantine and shutdowns still in place around our world, I felt this was a good time to enlist artists with time on their hands to work on remixes. Michael Rozon and I started on a new version of ‘the delicate balance …’. I have been hearing this in my head since we mixed this song, which is now months ago. Again, I loved sitting in the ‘back seat’ during the process of ‘beauty re-envisoned’ so I thought, why not give that another go!
For those of you who read these Blogs, last week I mentioned doing some recording for a ‘star-studded charity concept’. Well Wayne Hussey let the proverbial cat out of the bag in this post (which also has a very cool demo version of ‘butterfly on a wheel’). I was blessed and privy to be included in the ground-floor planning of his idea to do sort of a BAND AID thing … with ALL of the proceeds going to each participant’s choice of Covid-19 related charities. After tossing around a few ‘cover song’ ideas, he decided on The Mission’s own ‘Tower of Strength’. Personally I do not think there is lyrically a better song to pay tribute to all on the heroes on the front line in the fight against this virus. My Mom did not raise no dummy, so I immediately jumped on sending Wayne and Tim Palmer (who will be mixing the track) assorted guitars and textures for consideration. While it would be surreal (there’s that word again) to have a few bits on this song; Wayne’s list of guitarist friends (and singers for that matter) list is long and talented. The important part is the genuineness of this project and WHY it is so important. Hopefully this gets completed and released soon.
Stay safe and do help someone in need.
