Special Q&A with ROLAN BOLAN
Q: I was hoping that you could ask Rolan is thoughts on his Dad and T. Tex finally being nominated to the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame? I also love the video he did with Beauty In Chaos!
A: "It is truly exciting for my father Marc Bolan and his band mates to be nominated for The Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. It has taken some time but his music has influenced musicians all around the world. From the powerful guitar riffs and mystical lyrics, their music embodied the rush of Beatle mania and the feeling to find the groove in your own beat. This will be a true honor and a chance to reach a new audience all around the world. Keep a little Marc in your heart! … Rolan Feld Bolan
Earlier this year Rolan appeared with what the press has dubbed a ‘supergroup’, Beauty In Chaos for a glam-injected version of the T. Rex classic ‘20th Century Boy’. The song appeared on the group’s ‘beauty re-envisioned’ release. The single also yielded a fun ‘top of the pops’ style video featuring Rolan and Mission UK’s main-main Wayne Hussey. See it HERE or watch below!
Beauty In Chaos curator Michael Ciravolo says “Marc is such an influence on not only how but why I play guitar. Watching him pout and prance thru ‘Bang A Gong’ on my parents little TV .. with all the girls screaming cemented my path for me. He is truly and influential songwriter and underrated guitarist. To me, ‘20th Century Boy’ is one of the all time great rock n’ roll guitar riffs. Sadly the RRHOF seems to be a popularity contest than celebrating the artists that have actually had an major influence on music … as Marc almost single handedly created a genre that many other now famous artists have capitalized on. No one deserves to be inducted more than Marc Bolan”
The Mission’s Wayne Hussey devoted almost a full chapter in his Salad Daze autobiography, citing Marc has the reason he gave up the idea of being a football (soccer) playing and picked up the guitar!
