BIC BLOG 10/19/19
Lots of hours this week in both our SAINTinLA Studio and also my home studio as Michael Rozon and I go all in to get the new album ready! We worked this week getting the final two songs ready to bring my former GLJ cohort Dirk Doucette in to add live drums next weekend.
So now it looks like the record will be six tracks, so that certainly fills up vinyl so I guess I should begin to refer to it as an ‘album’ and not an ‘EP’. It’s the little things :)
I will be heading back to the studio today after knocking back a few more cups of coffee as we are recording vocals today for a beautiful new song call ‘Stranger’. Not sharing too much yet as we need to keep some mystery! We are still on track for releasing a debut single and video from the new album in late November or early December.
I have always been vocal about my opinion on Spotify and other streaming services, but against almost every bone in my body I have decided to allow ‘beauty re-envisioned’ to be streamed sometime before the end of October. I still believe in my heart of hearts that this is not a good thing for independent artists and small labels, and I implore everyone again that if you like a band, BUY their physical music. From BIC’s point, I want 33.3 to want to continue to offer our physical vinyl and CDs. I see why so many bands don’t do the physical releases and just go with the digital releases. I know it is easier and far cheaper … but damn nowhere near as fun and not in the sonic ball-park! With that said … here’s our BIC STORE with BOTH ALBUMS!
Certainly exciting to hear that T. REX is FINALLY nominated for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Certainly several deserving artists this year … but IMO none more than Marc Bolan. The influence he had and continues to have on modern music is undeniable. PLEASE vote for Marc HERE. I know that neither I nor fellow BIC and MISSION main-main Wayne Hussey probably would not be playing guitar if it was not for Mr. Bolan. Still a bit surreal that we got to record and do a video with Marc’s son, Rolan Bolan. Certainly a blessing that I would have never imagined as a kid in New Orleans. Big thanks to Dave Franklin and Dancing About Architecture for this week’s story on the video. Some nice quotes included HERE.
