MONDAY Q&A 11/30/20
Q: I love reading your blog every Saturday and I noticed you described the new songs as being a mix of ‘Bjork and Bauhaus’. That is an odd combo but sounds very interesting! Can you tell more?
A: Well first, thanks for reading it, I am not sure if many do or not. It is a bit cathartic to me… sort of showing myself some progress! As for my Bauhaus & Bjork reference, it was really just a wide net I cast when asked about the sound of a record that is really in its infancy stage. It will most certainly feature all female singers this time around. Michael Rozon has been playing Bjork’s ‘Vespertine’ album in the studio, which is an gorgeous record. We started talking about some of the elements that make that a great album, and what of those elements and approaches that could work with BIC. I am sure the sound will evolve and revolve - as this first track that we are working on is brooding and dark. The cast of ladies that have said they are interested in being part of this next incarnation of BIC are certainly talented and diverse. As I always try to instill some ‘limitations’ in what we do .. I am planning to start at least some of the songs from a source outside of my guitar or bass ideas; drum loop, synth sound or a vocal melody.
