MONDAY Q&A 4/8/19

Q:  I’m looking forward to hearing new BIC songs!  Does writing feeling different this time?  Any ‘difficult’2nd album feelings or pressure to follow up the first record? … or are you just enjoying getting creative from scratch again?

A:  Ahh … good question!  Tish and I had a long drive home bringing our daughter back to college and I got to listen to FBIC from top to bottom, and I still really enjoy it.  For some reason, I am able to step out of being part of BIC and just listen as a ‘fan’ of each of the singers.  I don’t feel any pressure to ‘top’ it if that is what you are asking.  To me it is a very special record and I just want to continue evolving  what we have started.  Putting together ‘beauty re-envisioned’ has allowed me to step back a bit and start putting together some new ideas.  I am really excited about working on new songs for sure.  With Michael (Rozon) working on the new MINISTRY album, it forces me in a way to work on some starting points.  We still get in to SAINTinLA at least once a week, and the first two ideas we have started have turned into what I think are going to be fantastic songs!  I think I have mentioned wanting to use drum machines on some of the stuff …  and I am loving the stark ‘feel’ of these 2 tracks so far.   Since FBIC and ‘Beauty Re-Envisioned’ turned into 2 massive works … I am looking at approaching the next BIC ‘releases’ a bit different’.  It is an extremely difficult undertaking, with the multiple artists that make up BIC, to make a cohesive sounding record.  I do think we did that with FBIC.  With the new material, I am thinking of doing more ‘bite size’ releases.  Maybe a secession of 4-song EPs or something.  I know these first 2 songs do sound like they sound go together.  I think this will allow us to get some new material out before the end of the year as opposed to waiting until we complete a 10+ song ‘full’ CD of sorts.
