BIC BLOG 4/20/24

Big BIC day today … something Michael Rozon and I started over 9 months ago is actually in the home stretch! The ‘sound’ and ‘feel’ of this album is all I had hoped for when I made the semi-abrupt decision to dive into the deep end of the pool and make a full-length release, as opposed to a string of record/release/repeat singles. Honestly, at points I have second-guessed that decision on a few occasions, only when my own self-inflicted impatience intervened. As I have mentioned of late, with Rozon free of the last Ministry record, we had a lot more studio time to really ramp up the creativity and made amazing progress over the past 8 weeks. As always, we have a blast working together … always have and hopefully always will! So why is today a big day? Well after a few adjustments on the last song, we will actually begin the final mix stage of the 8 songs that will comprise this album. I have made my notes on “Present Tense”, which is the lead-off track… now it’s just the arduous and yet amazingly satisfying task of final-mix-commitment!

As this process progresses over the next few weeks, I will have a much clearer idea about the actual release dates of this album and accompanying videos…. which is a commitment I am eager to make! Two tidbits… baring any unforeseen tribulations, I think it’s safe to say a debut video/single should see the light of day In June, with this album the following month. Yes, fingers crossed.

So what does this record sound like? As with all BIC albums, it is a challenging process to make 8-songs with 8 uniquely different singers sound like they coexist under the same ‘roof’. I am extremely proud of how we have managed this task over our past three studio albums … and I am confident in how we are navigating this task on this album. But, again, what does this record sound like? I still won’t divulge the singer identities (yes, mystery is important even in today’s instant Information Age)…. but I will say this; it’s a progression from “Behind The Veil” and in some ways, a regression to our debut “finding beauty in chaos’ Good answer? :)

STILL THE STORM…
